On 19th December 2012, in his position as Prime Minister, David Cameron welcomed the conclusion and recommendations of Sir John Holmes' Military Medals Review. This review had been undertaken at the request of David Cameron to review the rules and principles governing the award of military campaign medals.
From those recommendations action was taken which left a few Veterans satisfied and they felt that they had been at last recognised for the service that they gave.
However, it left many, many Veterans frustrated due to the evident lack of proper recognition which they so richly deserved.
This campaign seeks to question as to how the conclusion of the extensive review could have ever been accepted as fair and just and requests that the discrepancies, unfair and unjust treatment, together with new evidence warrants a second review and consideration of a revision of the recommendation.
Theresa May, Prime Minister, was quoted in a Sun article on 13th December 2017, stating,
“Those who have served deserve recognition for their sacrifice throughout their lives and we will continue to make sure that they get it”.
The initial submission and additional information submitted to the office of the Honours and Decorations Comittee, has been considered and we have been advised that it will be included in the re-establishment of the new Advisory Military Sub-Committee. Signatories are now world wide, however the more the better, so please keep signing, it is vital that there is a show of public support to treat our Veterans fairly, and to recognise fully their sacrifice, by treating them consistently with other servicemen.
