BOMBER COMMAND MEDAL CAMPAIGN

- In pursuit of a Fair Review

PROGRESS UPDATES

28/04/2018 - Our campaign for a Fair Medals Review to be undertaken by the UK government began on 11th January 2018. Our petition on Gopetition.com is slowly being signed by supporters around the world. The Bomber Command volunteers came together from 54 nations and it is fantastic to see that the support for this campaign is now coming from other countries.

14/03/2019 - Our submission was updated on 7th March 2019 and will be submitted in time for the re-establishment of the new Advisory Military Sub-Committee. The new committee members has not yet been published by the Cabinet office.

The campaign now has cross party MP support and also support in the House of Lords.

10/10/2018 - We were advised that the Advisory Military Sub-Committee would be re-established in the spring of 2019 to consider historical cases. We were also advised that our submission will be included in the re-establishment process.

28/10/2018 - Members from the campaign group were able to meet with several MP's, in order to gain advice and support in approaching the Honours and Decorations Committee and the Advisory Military Sub-Committee.

27/02/2019 - Contact was made with long time supporters of Wg Cdr (Ret'd) Jim Wright's UK and overseas supporters, from Australia. Canada and New Zealand. An update of our campaign progress was shared with them and their support continues. The campaign is grateful for this continued support.

13/05/2019 - Second World War Veteran George Verden receives an apology from the Ministry of Defeence for denying the award to which he was rightfully entitled. Read George's  story here

A misinterpretation of rules by the medals office causes concern, and raises more questions over the Bomber Command medallic recognition case. A revised submission was forwarded to the Honours and Decorations Committee earlier in the month
